"Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that a time like this would come a time when I would have to look back and pay tribute to a general of faith who transformed the destinies of both the young and the old. My encounter with Pastor Theo was orchestrated by destiny. It was not accidental; it was meant to be. As a young adult, he grounded me in the Word of God. He taught me, corrected me, rebuked me when necessary, and showed me love not just ordinary love, but an overwhelming and fatherly love. He believed in us, challenged us and pushed us beyond the limitations of our minds. Through his leadership, we accomplished things that initially appeared to us like insurmountable mountains, yet under his guidance, we overcame them with courage and ease. Pastor Theo broadened my perspective on life and exposed me to possibilities beyond what I had known. I still remember that my first trip outside Kenya was made possible through Campus Ministry. That experience expanded my worldview and helped me understand that the life God had called us to live was not a small or ordinary one. He taught me to cultivate constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit and to exercise dominion here on earth. He encouraged us to pray continually in the Holy Spirit. He would tell us to carry our earphones and listen to the Word of God as we walked through the streets of the Nairobi city. Through his words and example, he challenged me to pursue an extraordinary life rooted in God’s presence. At the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology KIHBT, Nairobi Campus we pioneered one of the earliest Campus Ministry programmes. What began as a small work rapidly spread to other campuses in Nairobi and Mombasa. Pastor Theo continually challenged us to evangelise and influence our campuses for Christ. I vividly remember one of his statements: “If they have not started calling you pastor on campus, then you have not started.” This was his way of reminding us that our faith had to be visible and that our evangelistic outreach should make a meaningful impact on the lives of other students. I was greatly honoured to serve as his Chief Usher, as he fondly called me. Those moments of service and the lessons I learned while walking closely with him have permanently shaped my life. One statement he made remains deeply alive in my spirit. He once told me: “Denis, you cannot walk with me and remain small.” Those words were enormous. They transformed my perspective and awakened me to the greatness that God had placed within me. As I grew around him, his grace rubbed off on me. I admired and emulated his dressing, his poses, his speech and even his driving skills. More importantly, I earnestly desired to operate in the grace, boldness and spiritual authority that rested upon his life. I will forever remain indebted to him. My heart is heavy, but I am comforted by the knowledge that Pastor Theo ran his race, kept the faith and completed his assignment. The seeds he planted in us continue to grow and bear fruit. Those seeds became trees, and those trees are becoming forests across generations and nations. We are part of Pastor Theo’s spiritual legacy. His work continues through every life he transformed, every leader he raised, every campus he reached and every believer he challenged to rise above an ordinary existence. We will continue the good work that God began in us through his ministry. We will carry the fire, uphold the faith and pass the same truth, love and grace to the generations that follow us. Everything cannot be expressed in a single tribute. There are too many memories, too many lessons and too many testimonies connected to such a great man of God. Pastor Theo, your influence on my life was so profound that I named my firstborn son after you. At least every day, when I look at him, I see a reminder of you and cherish my encounter with destiny. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for correcting and challenging me. Thank you for refusing to allow me to remain small. Your labour was not in vain.
