"A Tribute to My Pastor, Mentor, and Father in Faith In Loving Memory of Pastor Theophillus Owase There are some people whose impact on our lives cannot be adequately measured by words. They come into our lives as teachers, mentors, leaders, and guides, but with time, they become much more than that they become part of the story of who we are. For me, Pastor Theophillus Owase was one of those rare people. It is difficult to find the right words to describe what his life and leadership have meant to me. Even in this moment of grief, I find myself more grateful than sorrowful for the privilege of having known him, worked with him, and learned from him. Pastor, your leadership was not simply about giving instructions; it was about shaping people. Your continuous guidance, correction, mentorship, and encouragement have contributed greatly to the person I am becoming today. There were moments when your corrections were difficult to receive, but with the passage of time, I have come to understand that they were never rooted in criticism. They were rooted in love, growth, and your desire to see me become better. You taught me that excellence is not accidental. You taught me to pay attention to the little things, to remain focused, to be responsible, and to approach every assignment with purpose. Through your leadership, I learned that what we do matters, and that our lives should be lived intentionally. But beyond being my pastor and leader, you were someone who genuinely cared about me. Your love towards me as a staff member and as a member of the church was one of the things that touched me most deeply. It was a love that was not dependent on perfection. It was patient, corrective, encouraging, and unconditional. You believed in people, and I was privileged to experience that belief personally. Your life also deepened my relationship with God. Through your teachings, your example, your discipline, and the way you carried the responsibility of leadership, you helped me understand that serving God is more than words. It is a life of character, sacrifice, discipline, obedience, and impact. You taught me to think beyond myself. You taught me to live a life of impact, focus, and purpose. You reminded me, directly and indirectly, that the measure of a life is not merely in how long it is lived, but in what is accomplished through it and in the lives that are changed along the way. Today, as I look back, I realize that many of the lessons you taught me will continue to speak long after your voice has become silent. Your corrections will continue to guide me. Your counsel will continue to influence my decisions. Your example will continue to challenge me to become better. And the love you showed me will remain a precious part of my story. You may no longer be here physically to correct me, guide me, or ask me to do better, but the seeds you planted in me are still alive. And I pray that my life will become evidence that your investment in me was not in vain. Pastor, thank you. Thank you for leading me. Thank you for correcting me. Thank you for mentoring me. Words seem inadequate to express the depth of what you meant to me and to so many whose lives you touched. Yet, the life of impact, love, compassion, and selflessness you demonstrated will never be forgotten—not even in centuries to come. I remember vividly how you stood by me in 2023, when I was preparing to get married. You stepped into the gap when family and friends could not, and you became a tremendous source of strength and encouragement to me. You constantly called to check on me, guiding me through every stage and ensuring that everything was put in place for the success of the wedding. Your financial support was also a major blessing to me. You gave not merely from what you had, but from a heart filled with genuine love and concern. On the day of my wedding, I can still remember how you travelled down to join us in church, despite the demands of your schedule and all the odds that could have prevented you from coming. You came simply to demonstrate that “liquid love” that flowed so freely from you to everyone around you. That is the kind of man Pastor Theophilus Owase was. Loving. Compassionate. Selfless. Ever-supportive. A true brother and friend. Your life preached a sermon that words could never fully capture. You showed us that love is not merely something we say—it is something we demonstrate through our presence, sacrifices, generosity, and willingness to stand with others when they need us most. Pastor Theo, I am deeply grateful that God allowed our paths to cross. I am grateful for your friendship, your brotherhood, your counsel, your support, and every expression of love you showed me. "All I can say is thank you Sir. I wasn't close to Pastor but his message helped me love triumphantly in my darkest days in Uni. When I became a PCF leader, Pastor called me asking me my target for Sunday service as a new pcf leader and I told him 25. He said " you must be joking" and quickly I said " 100 Sir", and the next thing he said was " that's good" I became with 50 first timer that sund day minus the 10 members in the pcf. "Tribute to a Consummate man. My first encounter with the highly Esteemed Pastor Theo was in 2018 as we prepared for “A Night to remember redefined with Pastor Chike” in Calabar, I had been sent to go mount a billboard banner on the most prominent billboard at the then CRUTECH Calabar gate and the school management declined, when I came back to give the report Pastor Theo picked up a stone and said “I will break your head now, why will you bring back an evil report, my friend go back and mount that billboard!!” As I ran away strange courage covered me and I walked straight to the VC’s office and got it done, that day I saw stubborn faith in person for the first time, no one shares God's Word with power like Pastor Theo, he was so fond of me and would always counsel me to live and do the word irrespective of circumstances, we weren’t so close but his life of Faith, discipline, authority and Word-based responses to every situation impacted me in no small way. I will always Love and celebrate you Sir, enjoy Heaven Sir, till we meet again in the sky."

And though my heart is heavy because you are no longer with us physically, I find comfort in the truth of Scripture: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”Your departure may have taken you from our physical sight, but it cannot erase the impact of your life, your ministry, your words, and the legacy you have left in the hearts of those you touched. You still live on—in the lives you transformed, in the destinies you helped awaken, in the words you spoke, and in the countless people who encountered Christ through you. You will forever remain my beloved father, my pastor, and one of the precious vessels God used to speak greatness into my life. I carry your words with me, and I carry them with deep reverence.
